New Online Store Offers Functional Fashion for People with Disabilities

More often than not the shopping experience isn't designed bearing people with disabilities in mind. As if that weren't enough, facilities for shoppers with disabilities are few and far between.

In a bid to make online shopping a bit more accessible for individuals with disabilities, Alexandra Connell founded a new online department store dubbed PATTI + RICKY.

This online store provides Functional Fashion (user-requirement specific clothing) for people with disabilities. Aside from offering fashionable products, PATTI + RICKY also offer functional products.

The online store boasts merchandises from twenty different designers, and it's worth noting that many of those deal with disabilities themselves. The store features an array of accessible products including wheelchair-friendly raincoats, magnetic shirts, Braille imprinted products, cochlear implant ear cuffs, and fidget jewelry just to name a few.

“Together all the designers and PATTI + RICKY all want the same thing. We would like for people with disabilities to have options for stylish and functional clothing and accessories," Alexandra Connell said.

Details about each company and their products can be found on the website's Meet Our Designers section. Among other listed companies, PunkinFutz makes various accessories and toys for kids with physical, emotional, and sensory needs.

Online shop, Alter Ur Ego, sells t-shirts and jeans for people that use wheelchairs.

Another design partner is Love Dawne, which sells handmade jewelry to combat stress and anxiety. Connell's future plans include collaborating with more design partners and doing photo shoots with models who cope with disabilities. You can learn more by visiting www.pattiandricky.com.

Patti, an entrepreneur and Ricky, a philanthropist, and teacher created the inclusive lens by which Connell perceives the world.

Connell wanted to set up an online department store where each product is selected and organized bearing Patti and Ricky's consent in mind. Their goal is to continue to scatter the acceptance, love, and understanding that Patti and Ricky transmitted throughout their lifetimes.
