ASOS Designs Rainproof Jumpsuit for People Who Use Wheelchairs

ASOS has been determined to expand design within the range of its line.

Aside from teaming up with Glamour magazine to create swimsuits for plus-sized women, the London-based online fashion and beauty retailer gives a broad range of gender-neutral collection and promotes assertive body image and mental wellbeing.

Keeping in line with its aforesaid initiatives, ASOS has now unveiled a tie-dye rain suit that the wearer can zip together into a jumpsuit. More importantly, it is designed bearing wheelchair users in mind.

According to ASOS corporate website, the British brand focuses on developing accessible clothing genre. The site points out there's room for development not only in the way clothes are been designed but also the process of individuals with specific needs finding what they are looking for needs a radical revision.

ASOS cautiously created the jumpsuit in collaboration with Chloe Ball-Hopkins, a BBC Bristol sports reporter, a model and a wheelchair user. According to the jumpsuit's description online, it is made using a wholly waterproof item, it boasts a relaxed fit, and is equipped with a slightly longer hem in the back to avoid it from riding up.

"So over the last several months I have been working with @ASOS to create a fashionable, yet practical waterproof all in one," Ball-Hopkin lauded the joint effort in a tweet posted on Tuesday.

"Not just for people like me in a chair but for anyone. It's about making fashion accessible! So what should be next?!," she added.

Twitter users welcomed the one-of-a-kind product while praising Ball-Hopkin. Whizz-Kidz, a UK-based charity that supports young differently-abled people expressed their approval in the form of a tweet. "This is what our young people keep asking for and it is great to see."

"@ASOS leading the way with models who are wheelchair users AND fashion which is accessible! Great job @chloe_ballhopzy," the tweet reads.
