Meet Aaron Fotheringham, an air-borne performer who has been entertaining people with his spell bounding skateboard and BMX-style tricks. Nowadays, one might think that this sport is a common activity and that people in large numbers are trying it out with perfection. What's most interesting and inspiring about Aaron's story, is that this 23 year old's stunts and epic performances were self taught, despite that he has been wheelchair bound since birth.
The struggle story of Aaron Fotheringham
The story started years back when Aaron made a decision to accompany his brother to a local arena. There he tried out the stunt for the first time and surprisingly succeeded in it. He did not want to lead his life just like other kids who are physically disabled. Rather, he wanted to check out the extreme side of life with his physical limitations. His wheelchair became his greatest strength, and he tutored himself to be one of the best in the business. As a matter of fact, with his limitations, he managed to break loads of records and stun the public along the way, not only in his country but also on a global platform.
When people came to know that Aaron Fotheringham has the potential of doing daredevil stunts, he was called “Wheelz.” He always dreamt about excelling in extreme sports and reach the epitome of success and popularity in this domain. When he succeeded in the trials, he made a custom made wheelchair which would assist him in performing these stunts. The rest is history as in the later years; this man is known as the master of this league of extreme sports. No one remembered that this man is limited by a physical disability.
In the year 2005, he tried out a mid-air, 180-degree turn which he nailed flawlessly in one shot. A year later he tried out the first wheelchair back flip which helped him to win the hearts of his admirers. One of his greatest stunts took place in the year 2010 where he tried out the first ever double backflip which was nothing short of God-like. A year later in 2011 “Wheelz” tried out the first front flip in New Zealand. The spectators were stunned to see that how a man with physical limitations can land safely after a 50 feet jump. These are some of the most distinguished achievements of this airborne daredevil and still he is keeping up the good job by holding on to his dream.
Aaron is pretty happy with what he is doing, and will continue to do so. He has a dream that he would someday coin an excellent idea to help people leading their lives in a wheelchair. Eventually he wishes to design “the most wicked” chair in the world.
