CP is a speed bump, It may slow you down but it can’t STOP you!

CP is a Speed Bump. That's my new slogan for 2020. I designed the T-shirt in the photo above because I have seen a plethora of Cerebral Palsy Awareness shirts designed for the caregivers and mothers of children with CP. But, Nothing that spoke to ME. I am an adult athlete who happens to have CP. I am all for CP awareness and I want to take nothing away from those mothers or caregivers out there. It’s a tough job being a parent let alone being a parent to a disabled child. ( By the way, I owe my own mother for the man that I am today, THANK YOU, MOM! )But, I am not ready to sport a CP awareness shirt that suggests I am a butterfly or Winnie the Pooh. Mohammed Ali May have been able to make butterflies work, but that’s Muhammed Ali we are talking about.  I wanted a shirt that expresses how I feel about my condition. I am over 50 now and I am still active. CP has slowed me down occasionally but it has NEVER stopped me. CP is just a speed bump. I think that sums it up pretty well. Case in point: Earlier this month I completed another virtual marathon. It was my fourth one this year. The Thor 50.5 mile challenge through YesFit. Fifty miles! I didn’t do it in a day. It took me quite a few days... but I did it! I did it because CP is a speed bump in my life. It may slow me down, but it absolutely cannot stop me from doing anything I set my mind to. So, my challenge to you out there... Keep Movin in 2020. Whatever your current condition may be. Whether you have Cerebral Palsy or any other disability. Keep active, keep striving, keep driving forward. The new year provides new opportunities for everyone!

Happy New Year Y’all

Thank you to the powers that be for bumping this post up on the page despite the low “ up votes” it’s nice to know that getting paid for my work and time is NOT entirely “up vote” based. It gives me hope for this page yet. I am still amazed at the lack of commentary on many of the great articles here. But Fear Not! I will continue to post. Thank you Rolling Without Limits.
