Para Athlete Javed Choudhari Set to Impress the Judges of Hit Reality Show

Javed Choudhari took social media platforms by storm after a video of his dance went viral. Choudhari has been selected for Colors TV's upcoming reality show dubbed Dance Deewaane.

The twenty-five-year para-athlete spoke with NewzHook about how he is gearing up to make an impression on Indian actress, producer, and television personality Madhuri Dixit. When Choudhari took to the stage at Pune Marathon last year, dancing to the hit tune Zingat, he had no idea how much popularity he'd end up garnering on social media.

Choudhari has already cleared three selection rounds to be chosen for Dance Deewane, which centers on contestants showcasing their dancing skills under various styles in a bid to win the coveted title. The song he chose for the rounds was none other than Zingat.

You can catch a brief glimpse of Javed's moves in the promo of the show, which is already out. He lost his leg back in 2015 in a bike accident in Lonar, Maharashtra, and as a result, he could no longer participate in dance competitions.

After the accident, he opted to play wheelchair basketball, and as expected, he showed his talent there too. Choudhari currently represents the national wheelchair basketball team.

"In the initial years after the accident, I paid attention to basketball. Gradually, I resumed dancing and when that video went viral, I started getting offers to take part in dance competitions, so I took it up again," he told NewzHook.

Prathmesh Kohasander, who manages Pune-based R K Dance Academy, was introduced to Choudhari a couple of years ago. Impressed with his passion for dancing, Prathamesh decided to help Choudhari in terms of enhancing his skills.

"I saw his passion and commitment and decided to help him further," Prathmesh says.

He revamped his training pattern to suit Choudhari's special needs. Furthermore, Prathmesh stated that despite them, Choudhari didn't allow the challenges to stop him from doing his best. Prathmesh shared a video of Choudhari dancing to Zingat on multiple social media platforms and grabbed the attention of the show producers.

Since he's now cleared the primary rounds for selection, Choudhari wants to ensure he leaves no stone unturned in a bid to impress the judges, including Madhuri Dixit who has garnered praises from critics not only for her acting but also for her dancing skills.

While he was allowed to select his own songs until now, Choudhari will have to dance to the songs given to him by the judges. Moreover, he needs to ensure he gets maximum votes to keep his chances of winning the show alive.

Anil Irathkar, who is Choudhari's long-time friend, respects his positive attitude. According to Anil, who has known Choudhari for twenty years, he didn't give up believing positively even after the accident.

Anil recalls Choudhari staying positive while he was wheeled into the operation theatre. After his leg was amputated, Choudhari didn't lose his confidence. His ability to deal with such circumstances without losing hope make Choudhari a great role model, Anil says.

This same positivity has propelled him to skyrocketing popularity on the basketball court as well, according to Captain Louis George. He says Choudhari brings positive energy everywhere he goes, and the fact that he is a team player makes him a real asset.
