Former professional American basketball player Shaquille Rashaun "Shaq" O'Neal, gave a chance to a paralyzed boy to live his life once again.
12-year-old, Isaiah Payton who was shot on August 16, during a high school football match which was held at Lakewood Stadium in his hometown Atlanta. The shooting left Payton paralyzed and ever since he been recovering in the hospital.
According to the CBS Atlanta reports, there was another 15-year-old boy who was hit in his leg and he was arrested in connection with the shooting.
Allison Woods, who is the mother of Payton said, her son needed somebody to take his care so for him she even left her job and she was also searching for a new house that can be wheelchair-friendly.
According to the WXIA report, When this story came in the eyes of Shaq that Payton couldn't leave the hospital because he doesn't have a wheelchair-accessible house, The NBA star took a step to make sure that the kid gets what he wants.
While talking to a WXIA reporter Francesca Amiker, O'Neal said, When he came to know about this kid and his life story, he felt sad. This thing could happen to anyone of us, it could have been his son or anybody's cousin.
Before Payton's mother used to stay in a one-bedroom house with her two boys, so now we have got her a brand new 1BHK house in College Park. The NBA star is going to purchase them some ring cameras and some furniture and for one year he is going to pay their rent and also help her to find some job that she could stand on her feet
The CEO of Papa John's, Roby Lynch and the chairman of the board of Papa John's, Jeff Smith are making sure that the family gets a new house that is wheelchair-friendly along with O'Neal. Recently, the NBA star O'Neal became a director on the Papa John's board.
According to the WXIA report, Keisha Lance Bottoms who is the mayor of the City of Atlanta is also being supported by the family.
