Soon MSRTC Will Launch The Free Wheelchair Service At Its Bus Stands

In Pune, soon there will be free wheelchair service by the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation for all the wheelchair users at its bus stands.

While talking to TOI, the Pune divisional controller of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), Yamini Joshi said, "The service will start within a month. The construction of ramps at all the bus stands in the jurisdiction of Pune division would be completed by then".

To experience the service of the free wheelchairs, people with disabilities or their guardians will have to talk to the person who is managing the bus stop.

According to Joshi, They have planned to place two wheelchairs at the bigger ones and at the smaller stands they will keep only one chair. They are gonna wait for the response of users and see if there is a need to increase the number.

The MSRTC has more than 2,000 buses ply every day from the city. An official of the MSRTC said, whichever further updated will be done on the stands it will base on the demand of the city workers.

The MSRTC conductor's major work is to help passengers with disabilities in the best way possible when they are getting inside or leaving the bus. The official said, the MSRTC authorities have to take care if there is any passenger with disabilities is traveling alone on the bus. Soon there will be notices of the free wheelchair service, so the people with disabilities can come to know about it.

The MSRTC's free wheelchair service brought a smile on the faces of the commuters. A frequent MSRTC bus traveler, Abhishek Raut said, usually whenever there is some initiative like this in the start its a banger and later on its stop. They only wish is that the same thing doesn't happen with them and everything happens smoothly because a thousand people travel daily and need the MSRTC bus service.
