Yamaha Motor, the Japanese manufacturing giant, had big news this month. The company announced that it will enter the highly lucrative U.S. power assist wheelchair market with its very own NAVIONE wheelchair system. The new product has been designed specifically to address mobility issues.
The Yamaha’s NAVIONE power assist wheelchair system is an innovative and intuitive power assist wheelchair system that gives people with disabilities more freedom, confidence, and enhanced mobility. The company introduced its first electric wheelchair system in 1996, which was based on the company’s patented Power Assist System (PAS) technology for power assist bicycles. This month, the company plans to introduce something new to the market, one that could make a profound impact.
What to expect from Yamaha’s NAVIONE wheelchair system:
The newly announced NAVIONE power assist wheelchair system reflects the company’s 20 years of technology experience and proven expertise. The product has been designed with a strong focus on mobility experience.
With its innovative proportional drive control system combined with the latest wheel to wheel communication, NAVIONE wheelchair will enable people with disabilities to have a more comfortable ride. More importantly, the product will enhance the living standard of the people with disabilities, providing them new life and more confidence
In addition to the enhanced mobility and confidence, the Yamaha’s NAVIONE wheelchair also offers a new type of propulsion system that will help address the shoulder pain issues in today's wheelchairs.
This is not the first time Yamaha has developed a wheelchair technology. Last year, it introduced to the world its three-wheeled EV commuter 07GEN, which used the same parts for driving motorcycles as the JW electric wheelchair developed by the Japanese manufacturing company.
The Yamaha NAVIONE wheelchair system will make its official debut at International Seating Symposium (ISS), a leading educational and scientific event that focuses on wheelchair seating and mobility-related technologies. During the ISS event, the company will also conduct some test rides and product reviews.
